1. Sathyan Anthikkad is still delivering hits, true, but he's on a downward spiral as a director.
Vinodayathra, Rasathanthram, Manasinakkare, Narendran Makan, Yathrakkar, Kochu Kochu Santhoshnagal - all of his recent films are no patch on those classics he made in the 80s. Maybe Achuvinte Amma is the only exception.
Without Sreenivasan or Lohithadas to back him up with thought-provoking scripts, Sathyan is a crippled technician.
2. Rafi-Mecartin belongs to the Siddique-Lal school of slapstick comedy and they have struck gold at the box office consistently.
But their comedies will not be remembered as perenially fresh or evergreen.
Rather, their films are rehashes and mishmashes of earlier hits. It's the tastes of the present-day audience that they are feasting upon.
Make hay while the sun shines!!
3. Lal Jose is a technically adept craftsman who has improved with every film he did.
Of late he seems to have struck a purple patch. The last 4 films - Chanthupottu, AUV, Classmates and Arabikatha have helped create an aura around him.
But I would wait a while before going ga ga over him. Although a disciple of Kamal, Lal Jose is not equally good in song picturisation.
4. Blessy has already showcased his calibre. But he hasn't quite exhibited the range his mentor Padmarajan did.
Padmarajan was special for the gamut of subjects he handled with immaculate precision.
Blessy is yet to explore beyond 4-member family sagas.
5. Roshan Andrews has a creative brain between his ears, which is what any aspiring director ought to have. The way he handled the delicate nuances in Notebook's latter half speaks volumes about his talent. I need to see more of him before passing a judgement.

Thanks.
Utd left out Major Ravi, who has surprised one and all by the ease at which he made the transition from an army man to a film maker with substance.
I have heard a lot abt Padmakumar, but haven't seen his films to formulate an opinion.
Anwar Rasheed is noteworthy for his fast frames, but alas, he isn't directing good scripts.
