YESTERDAY I SAW KEERTHICHAKRA . ITS GOOD MOVIE WHICH IS BEAUTIFULLY PICTURISED. MOHANLAL'S PERFORMANCE AS MAJOR MAHADEVAN IS EXCELLNT. JEEVA'S PERFORMANCE IS NOT UPTO MARK BUT HIS ACTIONS ARE IMPRESSIVE THAN ALL OTHER ACTORS IN THE MOVIE. MAJOR RVAI,( DIRECTOR) MADE A LOT OF COMPROMISE IN THE FILM FOR GLORIFYING JEEVACHARACTER, SON OF RB CHOWDRY ( PRDOUCER OF THIS FILM). THAT COMPROMISE BADLY AFFECTED THE MOVIES BEAUTY. ANOTHER EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE IN THE MOVIE IS SHAMMI THILAKAN. HIS CHARACTER HAVING ALERGY TO BLOOD IS PICTURISED VERY NICELY AND SCENE IN WHICH HE IS KILLING TERRORIST NICELY SHOOT BY DEBUTANT DIRECTOR MAJOR RAVI. I THINK ONLY A MILITARY MAN CAN CAPLE OF MAKING THIS TYPE OF MOVIE WITH THIS MUCH REALITY.

COMPARISON OF THIS MOVIE TO OTHER MILITARY MOVIES AND DRAWBACKS OF THIS MOVIE

I READ SOME OF THE HARD CORE MOHANLAL FANS COMMENTS ON THIS FORUM STATING THAT KEERTHISCHAKRA IS BETTER THAN NAAIRSAAB BECUSE ALMOST CHARACTERS IN NAAORSAAB IS MALAYALEES AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY ARE SPEAKING MALAYALAM. BEFORE STATING THAT TYPE OF COMMENTS THEY HAVE TO REALISE THE FACT THAT NAAIR SAAB SHOOTED IN 1988 & 1989 AND RELEASED IN 1989.THAT MEANS 16 YEARS BEFORE , AT THAT TAMILA ND HINDI CINEMA IS NOT THAT MUCH POPULATR AMONG PUBLICS, SO ITS VERY DIFFICULT FOR PUBLIC TO UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE . ALSO IF THEY WRITE MALAYALAM IN THE SCREEN, UNEDUCATED PEOPLE CANNOT READ ( NOW LITERACY RATE CHANGED.)ALSO NOW A DAYS TAMIL AND HINDI MOVIES POPULAR AMONG COMMON MAN IN KERELAA. SO IT IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND NOW A DAYS.
AND MY QUESTION TO MOHANLAL FANS WHY LIKE THAT OF NAAIR SAAB ALSMOST ALL TOP OFFICIALS IN KEERTHICHAKRA ALSO MALAYALEES. LIKE SAIKUMAR, SPADIKAM GEORGE. AND SANSUSHA'S CHARCTER WHO IS KASHMIRI IS SPEAKING MALAYALAM FLUENTLY. IT S MENTIONING IN THE FILM THAT BY COCHIN HANEEFA THAT HE IS PERSON WHO TAUGHT MALAYALAM TO SANEESHA. EVENTHOUGH IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE A KASHMIRI IS SPEAKING MALAYALAM THIS MUCH FLUENTLY. ONE MORE QUESTION NORMLAY PUNJABI'S ARE MAJORITY IN MILITARY. BUT WE CANNOT SINGLE PUNJABI IN KEERTHICHAKRA. SO MOHANLAL FANS PLEASE AVOID CRITICISING NAAIR SAAB.

CHARCTERS COMPARISON

I THINK MAJOR RAVI COPIED MOHANLAL'S CHARACTER MAJOR MAHADEVAN FROM HINDI FILM BORDER THAT OF SUNNY DEOL. IN THAT MOVIE SUNNY'S FATHER IN LAW TRYING TO TRANSFER SUNNY TO ANOTHER PLACE TO AVOID RISK OF BEING AT WAR. SAME SCENE IS REPEATING KEERTHICHAKRA ALSO. ONLY DIFFERNCE IS SUNNY'S WIFE TABU IS NOT DYING IN BORDER WHERE AS MOHANLAL'S WIFE IS MURDERED IN THIS MOVIE

SHAMMI THILAKAN'S CHARACTER ALSO COPIED FROM JP DUTTA'S HINDI FILM BORDER THAT OF AKSHAY KHANNA. IN THAT MOVIE SOME SCENES FIRST 30 MINUTES SHOWING THE FEAR OF AKSHAY IN KILLING TERRORISTS. AND SUNNY IS CHANGING HIS ATTITUDE SAME ALSO HAPPENING IN KEERTHICHAKRA ALSO. MOHANLAL,S CHARACTER CHANGING SHAMMI THILKAN'S ATTITUDE

THE SCENE IN WHICH MAJOR MAHADEVAN AND HIS TEAM KILLING TERRORIST USING MIRROR IS COPIED FROM ENGLISH MOVIE , SAVING THE PRIVATE RYAN

BUT MAJOR RAVI IS FAILED TO PICTURISE THE BEAUTY OF KASHMEER. IF WE COMPARE KEERTHICHAKRA TO OTHER MOVIES LIKE THUSARAM AND NAAIR SAAB , TECHNICALY KEERTHICHAKRA IS NUMBER ONE BUT WE HAVE TO CONSIDER THE YEAR IN WHICH OTHER FILMS SHOOTING IS FINSHED. NAAIRSAAB AND THUSARAM IS SHOOTED IN TENSED SITUATION.NOW CONDITION IS BETTER. IF WE CONSIDER ON ENTERTAINMENT BASIS NAAIR SAAB AND THUSARAM IS FAR BETTER THAN KEERTHICHAKRA. HINDI SONG IN KEERTHICHAKRA IS VERY GOOD BUT ITS PICTURISATION IS NOT UPTO EXPECTATION
EVENTHOUGH AFTER WATCHING MOHANLAL'S ACTING SOME VIEWERS IN THE THEATRES ARE MURMERING THAT MAMMOOTY IS MORE SUITABLE FOR MAJOR MAADEVAN'S CHARACTER DUE TO HIS BODY STRUCTRE AND DUE TO HIS BRILLIANT ACTING IN PREVIOUS MILITARY MOVIE AS ARMY OFFICER (ONLY HIS MILITARY MOVIE PATTALAM FAILED IN BOX OFFICE)

ANOTHER DRAW BACK OF KEERTHICHAKRA IS SOME CHARACTERS IN THE FIRST HALF IS MISSING IN THE SECOND HALF FOR EG TAMIL COMEDY ACTOR IN MILITARY

ON THE WHOLE. KEERTHICHAKRA IS GOOD WATCHABLE MOVIE

THE VARIETY OF KEERTHICHAKRA FROM OTHER MILITARY MOVIES IS THE MAJOR MAHADEVAN AND HIS TEAM FIGHTING AGAINST TERRORISM WITHOUT MILITARY UNIFORM. AND THIS IS NOT HAVING OVER SENTIMENTS LIKE THAT OF SOME MILITARY MOVIES LIKE BORDER. ANOTHER DRAW BACK OF THIS MOVIE AFTER CAPTURING ONE TERRROIST THERE IS UNNECESSARY FIGHT SCENE OF JEEVA WITH THAT TERRORIST .THIS SCENE ONLY FOR GLORIFYING JEEVA DUE TO RB CHOWDRY'S PRESSURE . SAME IN THE CLIMAX SCENE ALSO FOR MOHANLAL WITH TERRORIST LEADER. DUE TO THIS UNNECESSARY SCENE MAJOR MAHADEVAN IS GIVING VALUABLE LIFE OF BRAVE SOLDIER JEEVA. SO THIS SCENE ADVERSLY ONLY SHOWING IN CAPABILTY OF MAJOR MAHEDAVAN. IF HE KILL THAT TERRORIST BEFORE THAT FIGHT ONE SOLIDER'S LIFE CAN BE SAVED. EVEN IF JEVAN DIES IN COMMANDO OPERATION IT IS BETTER THAN THE ABOVE MENTIONED CLIMAX

KEERTHICHAKRA ENDING WITH SHOWING MOHANLAL'S MAJOR MAHADEVAN GOING FOR ANOTHER OPERATION AND SHOWING MISSION CONTINUES . THIS CLIMAX IS SOMEWHAT SAME TO THAT OF TAMIL MOVIE KAKA KAKA'S CLIMAX

My comparison of Nair Saab v Keerthi Chakra

I was waiting for such a topic to compare both films.

Both are very difficult to compare because

1. Both came in different eras
2. Mammoty is not a general throughout like Mohanlal
3. Mammoty and Mohanlal's characters have different styles and are characterised differently-so impossible to compare them
4. Keerthi Chakra can be called a military film. But Nair Saab is more of an action thriller in the 2nd half rather than a military film.

If I were to state my opinion, I would go for Keerthi Chakra for the following reasons

1. A true military film should NOT have unnecessary comedy or love scenes (Aran has that, but KC I am talking about..). In Nair Saab a few scenes are wasted on the usual young soldiers flirting with ladies and competition as to who is the most handsome, etc etc.
2. A true national military film will NEVER have a whole batch of Malayalees, the Home Secretary being a Malayalee and the chief villains being Malayalees. One has to be realistic here. Also, in Mukesh's dream, the India-Pakistan signs are in Malayalam . In Keerthi Chakra, there are Tamilians, Maharashtrians and Afghanis and Kashmiris all speaking their various languages. This is what should happen. And unlike Nair Saab, a good 20% of Keerthi Chakra's dialogues are in Tamil, Hindi and Urdu.
3. A true military film will never ever have Mukesh, Kunjan, Maniyanpilla Raju as soldiers . Biju Menon, Shammi Thilakan, Jeeva etc are more suitable for the military uniform than the others.
4. A true military film should be an army film throughout. In Nair Saab, 20% of the 1st half is comedy and romance and 80% of the 2nd half is action and suspense. In Keerthi Chakra, 90% of the film is devoted to training and commando operations and tactics.
5. A true military film should have atleast some patriotic dialogues and words to remember, eg where Major Mahadevan says "Yudham kalikumbozhum cricket kalikannumbol mathram nammal Indiakar avila". Nair Saab does not even have 1 patriotic dialogue or even "Bharat Mata Ki Jai"
6. A true military film should deal with issues in the military rather than outside. In Nair Saab u have the army being infiltrated by villains and Lalu Alex acting as a general, whereas in KC there are more pertinent issues such as the human rights of killing a prisoner, the sacrifices a soldier makes, none of which are dealt with in Nair Saab.
7. In Nair Saab soldiers do not have an identity to speak of themselves. In KC each soldier has his complex mannerisms and we can have a detailed look at the problems he faces. In Nair Saab soldiers follow the general (Mammoty or Lalu Alex)

Some points in favor of Nair Saab

1. Kashmir has been captured brilliantly even though it is 1989.
2. Though not a military film as such the suspense and action is racy and entertaining
3. Mammoty is outstanding as Nair Saab and his performance can really intimidate the audience. His dialogues are brilliant and he ssymbolises a true major.
4. The training manouvres are interesting to see in Nair Saab.

So I feel KC as a military film is better. My own opinion only. Sorry to Mammotyfans.

PLEASE DONT SAY ITS BEST MILITARY MOVIE IN INDIA. TECHNICALLY ITS ONE OF THE BEST MILITARY MOVIES IN KERALA

(2) How can we compare KC with Nairsaab??
Nairsaab is not a Military Movie..its a pakka
commercial action movie with comedy and love tracks..

So comparing KC with Nairsaab and saying KC is better military movie than Nairsaab is stupidity....

You can compare KC with Border and somany other military movies.
