One thing we had noticed is why people didn’t get the real subtext and reason for the various roles and hence the title.
If you knew the real dasavatharams of Lord Vishnu and their characters you can appreciate the script more.
Let me explain, starting with the best adapted role:
1. Krishna avatar - Vincent Poovaraghavan
Lord krishna is actually a dalit, he is dark-skinned [shyamalam]. He saved draupadi when she was being violated and he was the actual diplomat in mahabharatham. Lord krishna dies of an arrow striking his lower leg. Now look at how vincent was introduced.. he appears when asin is about to be molested and he saves her like draupadi. Vincent is the dalit diplomat, fights for land issue [soil issue to be exact] and dies from the metal rod striking his leg. Oh even five of vincent's men are drugged at P. Vasu's.. sounds familiar???
2. Balarama avatar - Balarama naidu
This is an easy given. as the name suggests and the role personifies you can easily get it.
3. Mathsya avatar - Ranagaraja nambi
nambi is thrown into water in an act of trying to save lord from being thrown into sea, though vainly. what more clue do you want?
4. Varaha avatar - Krishnaveni paatti
During the mukunda song, krishnaveni paatti does varaha avatar in the shadow puppetry. The frame freezes on it for a second. there is the clue. Moreover, in varaha avatar lord actually hides earth so as to protect life forms. Here too krishnaveni hides the germs - life form inside the statue so as to protect.
5. Vamana avatar - Kalifulla khan
remember in vamana avatar, lord vishnu takes the vishvaroopa, that is the giant form! Hence the giant kalifulla here symbolises vamana avatar.
6. Parasurama avatar - Christian Fletcher
Parasurama is actually on an angry killing spree and killed 21 generations of the particular kshatriya vamsa. Hence the real KILLER... Guess what thats what our Fletcher is! He comes around with the gun [modern upgrade for axe] and kills everyone around. I have to check if he kills 21 people though.
7. Narasimha avatar - Shingen Narahashi
first of all the name itself is a play on the words singam [means lion in tamil] and narasimha [the avatar being symbolised]. Lord Narasimha manifests himelf to kill the bad guy and he also teaches prahaladha. In the movie, he shows up to kill the killer fletcher! and is also a teacher.. Lord Narasimha had to kill the asura with bare hands and hence the martial arts exponent here.. get it?
8. Rama avatar - Avatar Singh
Lord Rama stands for the one man one woman maxim, kind of symbolising true love.. Here Avatar portrays that spirit by saying that he loves his woman more than anything and wants to live for her.
9. Kalki avatar - Govindaraj Ramasamy
As you know, the hero in kaliyug can be none other than the Kalki avatar!!!
10. Koorma avatar - Bush
This is the most loose adaptation I couldn't clearly comprehend. But if you look at the real koorma avatar, the lord is the turtle/tortoise that helps in stirring the ksheera sagara and bringing out the amruth. This essentially creates war among the devas and asuras. Similarly today Bush facilitates war between you know whom... May be Kamal also indicates that this avatar is a bit dumb like the tortoise...

Ini Kamal ingane udeshichu enganum aano Script ezhuthiyathu?????
First of all i wud like to discuss only abt the story and the screenplay by kamal and not his acting.. his acting is something tht he has proved to perfection in lots of other movies and this movie is not to prove it once again but to continue tht stand.. so the review of this considering acting and the perfecction in it is same as lots of other his movies.. I ll give my review on the story and the screen play which many ppl say they have not liked…
We all say certain things are not good.. i give u a page long equation to and say this is brilliant .. u aint gonna agree with me because u havent understood the equation at all…. So this is the case with dasavatharam.. First forget abt all tamil movies u have watched recently and get into the mood of understanding chaos theory … so i ll explain chaos theory first with my own examples…
Say alice comes to u ans asks u “whts the time..” u find ur watch is not working and look for the time in cell phone.. but ur cell phone is locked and is in ur packet.. and u take it out , unlock the cell phone see the time and tell it to alice.. Alice says thanks Bob and turns back to find a car abt to run over a blind man.. and Alice Shouts out to tht blind man and saves him… Now chaos theory.. if u ,Bob, had ur watch working , Alice wud have left the place long ago and wudnt have seen the car and the blind man in the right time to save it… So u locking the cell phone and keeping it in ur paccket has palyed a important role in saving a blind man.. infact this locking of cell phone could have beem triggered by some other event .. so it might be tht event tht saved the blind man… So THIS is chaos Theory … So view the story of dasa in terms of this… its difficult to understand.. but the pleasure and insight u get after understanding it is unbounded.. its like a maternity of a mother… its diff to go thro it but after tht its splendid( i hope i didnt mess up with the example)
Now Think abt each role tht comes in the movie u will find the zig-zaw complete… the 12th century kamal , if he had been saved by GOD in tht instance, the stone would not have gone to the ocean to trigger a tectonic imbalance to cause a tsunami 1000 years later.. so if u just view it as seperate events, it makes no sense.. but the second event is highly because of the magnification of the effect of first event.. similair to the keeping the cell phone locked insied ur pocket has no significance to u .. but it means a life to some body else… i am not saying ..his life is in cell phone.. but considering the series of events happening , ur cell phone played a big role .. this is called BUTTERFLY effect.. a small movement of the wings of butterfly might get magnified as a big hurricane some where else…
Now so in a sequence of events , say the place where fletcher kills the japaneese guys sister.. if he hadnt done tht, he wud not have met his end later..
So its all wht we call Karma.. the pros and cons of any event.. ppl who just see the event are not amused at it.. but those who take the pain of going thro of pros and cons get a joy no bounds..
And some have been questioning if bullets can cure cancer… cancer cells are there in each of us body…. cancer cells are dangerous when their number in our body grows alarmingly… so wht the docs do is just cut out those bad cancers cells growing at faster rate… the bullet simply did tht.. infact anything tht cuts it off cures cancer to tell it in a simple way(though cancer is not as simple as tht .. just for the sake of understanding there is nothing logically flawed) .. and the bullet did tht …
SO to put it in a nut shell not even many hollywood ppl have thought of chaos theory much .. few films have come on tht and an INDIAN film is based on chaos theory . So ppl if u dont understand the story dont consider the story to be stupid, the story is indeed cleverly woven and is right in front of u .. all it takes is a bit of grey cells work to discover the joy …. Now Kamal has suceeded in tht.. Hats off to him for being so creative… Though the movie is at places showing off the indian graphics standard , at most of the first half and climx fight, its world class… and its worth a thrice watch atleast …

Using this theory any sub-standard story and its sequence of events can be justified saying that it was a Butterfly effect. Even though all this is accepted, the point that they were not able to make people understand itself is a big flaw.
